Tween & Teen Tails Day School Drop-off
Age: 5 to 11 months
- 2-week training programs (Monday through Friday)
- Drop-off window: 8:30–9:30 AM
- Pick-up available until 5:00 PM
- Trainers work 1-on-1 with your dog, with potty breaks and rest time
- Work on specific goals with science-based positive reinforcement training methods
- At pickup, get an update on your dog’s progress and coaching on how to keep the skills going at home
- Option to book up to 4 consecutive weeks through our package deals
What Your Tween or Teen Works On
Tween & Teen Tails Day School focuses on the skills adolescent dogs need most: focus, recovery, self-control, and better choices when life gets exciting.
Skills and activities may include:
- Handler focus and check-ins
- Recall foundations and recall around distractions
- Loose leash walking
- Impulse control
- Settling and relaxation
- Polite greetings
- Mat or place work
- Confidence-building
- Enrichment and problem solving
- Calm behavior around people and dogs
- Recovery from excitement
- Practice with real-life distractions

Drop-Off Adolescent Dog Training
Adolescence can be a lot. Your dog may have more energy, bigger feelings, stronger opinions, and a sudden talent for “forgetting” skills they used to know. We get it. That is exactly why we created Teen Tails Day School.
Teen Tails Day School is our drop-off training program for adolescent dogs who need extra support, structure, and practice during the week. It is designed to complement our Teen Tails Training Class, giving your dog more trainer-led repetitions with the skills that matter most during this developmental stage.
This program is a great fit for teens who are currently attending, have attended, or are preparing to join Teen Tails. It is not meant to replace the relationship and teamwork you build with your dog. Instead, it gives your adolescent dog focused one-on-one practice with a trainer while helping you keep those skills growing at home.
How It Works
Every new Day School enrollment begins with a free evaluation at our Gurnee training center. This helps us get to know your dog, talk through your goals, and make sure Teen Tails Day School is the right fit.
Once enrolled, you drop your dog off in the morning and pick them up later in the day. While they are with us, our trainers work on specific goals using science-based, positive reinforcement training.
Your dog’s day may include individual training sessions, enrichment, confidence-building, potty breaks, rest, and structured practice around age-appropriate distractions. This is not daycare. It is focused training time with professionals who know your dog’s plan and are working toward your goals.
What You Get
Drop-off training works best when families are included in the process. At pickup, we will share what your dog worked on, what went well, what needs more practice, and how you can continue building those skills at home.
We want you to feel prepared, not left guessing. The handoff matters because real progress happens when your dog can use their skills with you in everyday life.

Day School is not a replacement for your relationship with your dog. Instead, it gives your dog additional opportunities to learn, practice, and build confidence with professional guidance.

The Handoff Makes the Difference
Training cannot just happen while your dog is with us. Real success comes from helping those new skills carry over into everyday life with you.
That is why we put a strong emphasis on the handoff. At pickup, you receive updates on what your dog worked on, how they responded, and what skills to continue practicing at home. We also provide coaching and guidance so you understand the cues, techniques, and routines that help your dog stay successful outside of training sessions.
