Trusted Tails wasn’t part of a perfectly mapped-out plan.
When life threw an unexpected curveball, founder Becca Castro knew one thing for certain: she wasn’t ready to let an incredible team—or the community they had built together—disappear.
With support from the people now part of the Trusted Tails team, along with some pretty amazing clients, friends, and dogs, a new chapter began.
Today, Trusted Tails is a place where science-based, positive reinforcement training meets something just as important: connection.
We believe dogs learn best when they feel safe. People learn best when they feel supported. And the best communities are built on trust.
So yes, we teach dogs.
But we’re also here to celebrate the little wins, support both ends of the leash, have a whole lot of fun, and create a place where dogs and their people belong.

At Trusted Tails, we believe every dog deserves to learn without fear — and every relationship between a dog and their person deserves to be built on trust. Our team uses science-based, positive reinforcement methods to help dogs of every age, from wiggly 8-week-old puppies to seasoned seniors, build confidence, manners, and real-world skills. We’re not here to hand you a checklist and send you on your way; we’re here to walk alongside you and your dog every step of the journey.
Based at our training center in Gurnee, we offer everything from puppy classes and in-home coaching to adolescent and adult training, dog sports, day school, and boarding training — all rooted in the same philosophy: kindness over intimidation, partnership over pressure. Whether your dog is just starting out or working through a specific challenge, we’re honored to help you build a relationship worth wagging about, one trusted tail at a time.
