At Trusted Tails Dog Training, our dog sports and specialty classes are for dogs and humans who are ready to try something new together. You do not need competition experience to get started. You do not even need to know which sport your dog will love most. We are here to help you explore, learn, laugh, and build a stronger relationship through positive reinforcement and play.
Dog sports are not just about ribbons or titles. They are about trust, communication, and giving your dog a joyful outlet for their body and brain.

Most dog sports classes require some basic training skills before enrollment, but no prior sport experience is needed. Not sure where to start? We love helping families discover what lights their dog up.

Rally
Rally is a teamwork sport where you and your dog move through a course together, following signs that tell you which skill to perform next. You might practice sits, turns, pace changes, fronts, finishes, or other manners-based skills while moving as a connected team.
Unlike formal obedience, Rally allows you to talk to your dog, encourage them, praise them, and support them throughout the course. That makes it a fun and approachable sport for teams who want structure without losing the joy.
Rally builds beautifully on the skills your dog is already learning in group classes, especially focus, leash manners, body awareness, and handler engagement.
Nose Work
Dogs experience the world through their noses, and Nose Work gives them a safe, exciting way to use that natural talent. In this sport, dogs learn to search for specific scents hidden in containers, rooms, outdoor areas, and other environments.
Nose Work is mentally enriching, confidence-building, and incredibly fun to watch. It can be a wonderful choice for dogs who are shy, sensitive, reactive, older, or not suited for high-impact activities. Because dogs search one at a time, Nose Work often gives dogs who need space a chance to shine.
Most dogs love having a job, and Nose Work lets them do what they were born to do: sniff, solve, and succeed.
Agility Skills
Agility is one of the most recognizable dog sports, with dogs learning to navigate obstacles such as tunnels, jumps, contact equipment, and weave poles. It is active, exciting, and a fantastic way to build confidence, communication, and teamwork.
At Trusted Tails, we start with safe foundations. Dogs are introduced to equipment at their own pace, with confidence and body awareness coming before speed. Our goal is to help dogs feel brave, thoughtful, and connected to their handler while learning how to move safely and joyfully.
Agility can be a great fit for energetic dogs, curious dogs, and humans who enjoy active teamwork.
Trick Dog
Trick training is pure joy with a purpose. Teaching tricks builds communication, creativity, confidence, and problem-solving skills. It also gives dogs a fun outlet for their energy and intelligence.
Tricks can be simple, silly, practical, or impressive. Your dog might learn to spin, shake, bow, crawl, pick up objects, close doors, or perform a sequence of behaviors. Trick training is a wonderful way to deepen your bond while keeping learning lighthearted and rewarding.
Our Trick Dog classes may also support teams interested in working toward AKC Trick Dog titles.
Obedience
Formal obedience takes everyday skills and refines them with more precision, focus, and reliability. Dogs may work on heeling patterns, recalls, stays, fronts, finishes, retrieves, and other structured exercises.
You do not have to compete to benefit from obedience training. The focus, teamwork, and communication built in obedience can help any dog become a more thoughtful, connected companion.
For teams interested in titles, obedience can also create a pathway toward AKC obedience goals.
