At Trusted Tails Dog Training, our Day School programs are designed for dogs who benefit from extra practice, one-on-one trainer support, and a clear learning plan. Whether your dog is a young puppy, a busy adolescent, or an adult dog building real-life manners, drop-off training gives them the opportunity to work directly with our trainers while still keeping you involved in the process.

Our Day School options include Puppy Tails Day School, Teen Tails Day School, and Trail Ready Day School.

How It Works

Every new Day School enrollment begins with a free evaluation at our center. This helps us get to know your dog, talk through your goals, and make sure we place your dog in the right program. We want each dog to be set up for success from the very beginning.

Once enrolled, you bring your dog to our Gurnee training center in the morning and pick them up later in the day. While they are with us, our trainers work with your dog on specific skills and goals using science-based, positive reinforcement methods.

Your dog’s day may include individual training sessions, enrichment, confidence-building, rest breaks, potty breaks, and structured practice based on their program and needs.

This is not daycare. It is focused, structured training time with professionals who know your dog’s plan and are working toward your goals.

What We Work On

Every Day School program is customized based on your dog’s age, skill level, and the goals we set together:

Puppy Tails Day School supports young puppies as they build focus, confidence, early manners, social skills, enrichment habits, and the foundation they need before adolescence.

Teen Tails Day School is designed for adolescent dogs with busy brains, big feelings, and growing independence. Trainers help teens practice better choices, engagement, leash skills, recall, settling, and impulse control.

Trail Ready Day School supports adult dogs working on real-life manners, confidence, reliability, and the skills connected to The Good Manners Trail.

Each dog’s program is individualized. We assess your dog, talk through your goals, and create a plan that targets what matters most to your family.

The Handoff Makes the Difference

Training cannot just happen while your dog is with us. Real success comes from helping those new skills carry over into everyday life with you.

That is why we put a strong emphasis on the handoff. At pickup, you receive updates on what your dog worked on, how they responded, and what skills to continue practicing at home. We also provide coaching and guidance so you understand the cues, techniques, and routines that help your dog stay successful outside of training sessions.

Who Day School Is Best For

Drop-off training can be a great fit for:

  • Busy families and professionals who want additional training support
  • Dogs who benefit from focused one-on-one attention
  • Puppies and adolescents who need extra practice between classes
  • Dogs building confidence, manners, focus, or real-life skills
  • Families looking to jumpstart progress before or alongside group training

Training Is a Partnership

Day School is not a replacement for your relationship with your dog. Instead, it gives your dog additional opportunities to learn, practice, and build confidence with professional guidance.

At Trusted Tails, our goal is to help your dog learn in a way that feels safe, clear, and confidence-building while giving you support that fits real life. Together, we build the foundation, and you help those skills grow through everyday experiences at home.

That partnership is what creates lasting progress — one tail at a time.
