You want your puppy to get the best possible start. But between work, family, errands, appointments, and everything else life asks of you, fitting in consistent puppy training can feel like a lot to manage. We get it. That is exactly why we created Puppy Tails Day School.
Puppy Tails Day School is our drop-off puppy training program for puppies 12–20 weeks old. It is designed to support the same skills taught in our Puppy Tails Training Class, giving your puppy extra trainer-led practice, enrichment, confidence-building, and structure during the week.
This program is a great fit for puppies who are currently attending, have already attended, or are planning to attend our group puppy class. It is meant to be a helpful supplement to your puppy’s learning — not a replacement for the bond and teamwork you build together. We work with your puppy during the day, then coach you on how to keep those skills growing at home.
How It Works
Puppy Tails Day School is a 10-session program that includes:
- 8 drop-off training days at our Gurnee training center
- 2 private 30-minute transfer sessions with a trainer
- 4-week program
- 2 drop-off days per week
- Tuesday/Thursday or Wednesday/Friday options
- Drop-off training from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM
- Transfer sessions scheduled at the end of Week 2 and Week 4
During each drop-off day, your puppy rotates through short training sessions, enrichment, confidence-building activities, potty breaks, rest, and puppy-appropriate social learning. Puppies need time to process what they are learning, so structured downtime is part of the plan. We want them learning, not getting overtired.
Need a longer day? Families may add Bob’s Puppy Social Club from 1:00–5:00 PM for supervised socialization, enrichment, and trainer-supported puppy play.
What Your Puppy Works On
Puppy Tails Day School follows the same skill goals as our group puppy class, so your puppy gets extra practice with the things that matter most before adolescence begins.
Skills and activities may include:
- Handler focus and engagement
- Recall foundations
- Problem-solving games
- Enrichment activities
- Cooperative care and body handling
- Place training and mat work
- Introduction to leash walking
- Long-line skills
- Confidence around new sights, sounds, surfaces, and movement
- Calm behavior around people and other puppies
- Puppy-appropriate social skills
- Rest, decompression, and learning how to settle
Our training is science-based, positive, and trust-focused. We help puppies learn in a way that feels safe, fun, and clear, while building the confidence they need for real life.
What You Get
Drop-off training works best when puppy parents are included in the process. That is why Puppy Tails Day School includes two private transfer sessions with you, your puppy, and a trainer.
At the end of Weeks 2 and 4, we will meet for 30 minutes to review what your puppy has been practicing, show you how to continue practicing these skills at home, answer your questions, and help you understand your puppy’s progress.
These sessions are where the magic transfers from our training center into your everyday life. We want you to feel confident, prepared, and connected — not like your puppy has a secret trainer-only skill set.
